    Well, there were Corded Ware Culture Indo-Europeans in the territory of present-day Mordovia, before Uralic-speakers came:

    https://core.ac.uk/download/pdf/328024517.pdf

    "(...) Archeological findings show a similar pattern. The northern limit of the Corded Ware Culture – usually associated with haplogroup R1a and Indo-European languages – reached far more north, than the linguistic boundary between Slavic and Finno-Permian languages as recently as 1000-1300 years ago, and covered most of the above described key region of Livonian, Estonian, Votic, Merya, Muroma, Meshcher, and Mordvin traditional linguistic areas. But in Estonia there is no Old East Baltic hydronymy, while in NW Russia there is.

    It is not imagined / hypothetical, the bones exist, just nobody tested their DNA.

    Generally it is believed that Slavs assimilated Uralics, not the opposite.

    Lithuanians don't prefer an Estonia_IA source.

    Lithuania_BA Estonia_IA.SG
    2.27 -1.27

    Lithuania_BA Estonia_IA.SG
    -1.04 2.04

    negative values mean the model doesn't work

    ^^^ It makes sense! N1c most likely came to Lithuania along the south-western passage:

    This map shows that N1c could migrate also along the south-western passage (which includes the forest zone of Russia).

    =====

    Here I found some nice data about Mordvins, but unfortunately "no data" about haplogroups:

    Maybe add Av2? But we would only expect some 10% contribution anyway since Lithuanians have minimal Siberian.

    As do Mordvins. It seems Estonia_IA had more Siberian than Mordvins?

    Mordvins have a fair amount of Siberian(6-7%)+a small amount of Turkic. Estonia_IA had a varying amount due to local admixture but initially some 5%.

    That is actually not true.
    Estonia_IA has a level of Siberian comparable or maybe lower than Modern Central Russians, but significantly lower than Mordvins. If we are talking about average EST_IA. And Kras001 as a measure of Siberian-ness.
