Does anyone know about haplogroup C-Z5899 and it's presence in South Asia? Looks to be a South Asian haplogroup but couldn't find much on it. This is the closest clade I could find: https://www.yfull.com/tree/C-Y28069/
It looks to be clustered in western India (it looks like there are a lot of Gujarati samples there), but wasn't sure if that was just because of sampling. I read an article from Razib where it had mentioned that this could be an AASI haplogroup: https://www.brownpundits.com/2020/05...-haplogroup-c/
It seems like 12/14 samples are from Gujarat

I think so! I think C-Z5899 = C-Y152667. It's interesting that it's found in Bengalis too! This person is from Tajikistan and gets it: https://www.reddit.com/r/23andme/com...results_tajik/
Interesting that he has an AASI haplogroup in Central Asia

Answering your call here..
Its due to higher frequency of testing in Gujarat and nothing else. C-K98 is not a West Indian haplogroup; its a pan South Asian haplo.
Here's a C-Z5899 Brahmin from West Nepal, paternal origin is closer to Kumaon border in Farwest Nepal.

I guess its related to Ancient North Eurasian/ANE (Kostenki) which was C-Z33130* and Sunghir was C-Y37006. Related to ANE layer of AASI??
No, he is a male. It has to do with Migration F2 chip perhaps. The nearby Rajput from Arrah district, Bihar is Q1b-L275.

Is there any Q among Bahun/Chettri groups ?

*The Kusunda tribe (likely AASI foragers?) from West Nepal are H-Y25630
*The likely Bahun subclade is now H-Y142057*.
*The Rajasthani Dadhich Brahmin subclade is H-Z4414
*Some UP Brahmin sects (Saryuparins) are also high H1a beside R1a/R2. Source: Prof. Gyaneshwar Chaubey (Twitter)
Beside Bhadouria MP Rajput, this Punjabi Muslim India sample is also among J2a-L198>M419*. This line is rarer compared to the more common J-Y9346
