    Y-DNA (P)
    R-M198

Family Tree DNA reported my YDNA as R-M198.
When I uploaded the raw data on https://predict.yseq.net/ they reported it as R1a-Z280. It’s mostly an error.

Did you upload your STRs to yseq?
If so, yes an error is possible.

Didn't FTDNA run a full SNP test?

Yes I uploaded the Strs. I don’t have the SNPs, only the 111 STRs.
The website https://www.nevgen.org/ reported It is R-Y9.

My guess is that nevgen is more accurate here.
L657 > Y9 > Y7 is the more prevalent line in South Asia (not Z280).

    A research study titled “ A Genealogical study of the Origin of Pashtuns” (2013) studied the Y haplogroup among 718 Pashtun subjects and found that R1a: 61.6 %, L: 31.6 % & J2: 6.7%.

L1A1 here. Where does my Haplo originate from? Its mostly in Pakistan and Western/coastal Indian populations.

Someone said there was a study done recently saying its originally from the North West of the subcontinent. Would anyone happen to have that link? Or papers about origin of this haplo.

Everything Originated from Africa, which is west of India and Pakistan. It's called " Out of Africa" theory. And from there, all branches of Haplos emerged.

Geographic origin of a haplogroup is where the most recent common ancestor lived. The most recent common ancestor of L1a1 did not live in Africa.
