And a ancient sample from Yemen from the Iron Age has >>Y haplogroup J1
And two ancient samples from Socotra Island in Yemen >> Y haplogroup J1 and J2

Neat! Wonder what the subclade of that J2 is. I feel it's likely J-M205. The typical stuff. Rather odd seeing it in Socotra, though.

16 out of 19 Soqotris on YFull are J2, all of which are J-Y45546 which is a subclade of J-M205. This branch also includes 25 out of 30 J2 Dhofaris, 2 out of 2 J2 Mahras and 11 out of 26 J2 Hadhramis with another 12 in sister branch J-Y128176.

Anyway this study along with the Qatar study should give us a pretty good idea of the genetics of ancient Arabia soon enough.

There are a few Soqotri J-P58 samples as well, I know this cause a Somali from a clan of Mahra origin falls under the same medieval subclade as them.I think the Soqotris are predominantly J-P58

Looks like they have a Neolithic arab sample if I'm reading it correctly should be interesting
