    Update...

    Emailed BritainsDNA - The response,

    Thank you for your email.

I can see that your sample is in a very large batch of results that our geneticists are currently analysing. Once this is complete, our IT team will process and upload the results to your account, along with others in this batch.

As this is a very large batch, we will begin sending results out from Monday 13th October. We shall email you as soon as the results are ready.

    Kind regards,

    Kim Moffat

Results starting to flow in... Red head first,

    You are a

    Red-head
    You have two red-head variants
    Val92Met
    Arg163Gln
    in your MC1R gene

You have inherited two different red-head variants - one from each parent - leading to an at least partial disruption of both copies of your MC1R gene and so you could have red hair.

You should have red or strawberry blond hair and will pass one copy of one of these variants on to each of your children. However, some people with your combination of varients don’t have red hair.
    Your MC1R Gene

My Grandmother ( mother's side ) had red hair, so it's no surprise.
I was bleach blond myself when younger, and now mouse brown.

Interesting! Your red hair variants differ from mine. I have only one copy, so I have dark brown hair (well along in going gray), but the red hair variant I carry is Arg160Tryp.

Glad to hear your results are finally coming in!

    Subtype
    Your subtype is R1a-S223
Your S223 subtype was discovered in Orkney. You do not carry the almost Orkney-specific S201 sub-subtype though. You may carry markers that further define your subtype, but do not yet appear on our tree. You will find these in your genetic signature.

    Congratulations!

So, chances are your y-dna progenitor came from Norway.

    Nice graphic!
