I'm presuming that by "common" communities Ancestry means those shared on that parent's side. This would make sense for the four that Ancestry shows me -- Appalachian Settlers of Kentucky and Virginia & Eastern Kentucky Settlers on my maternal side, and Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio, Northern West Virginia & Maryland Settlers and Early Pennsylvania Settlers on my paternal side.
However, this doesn't explain why both of my other two communities -- Eastern Ohio River Valley & Northern Blue Ridge Mountains Settlers and Western Gulf States Settlers -- were omitted as "common" communities. I can understand it, I think, for the first of these: although most ancestors shown under this community are on my father's side, there are a few who were on my mother's side. Potentially Ancestry could list this one as a "both".
But this doesn't explain why the second of these "common" communities was also omitted. As nearly as I can tell, Western Gulf States Settlers is exclusive to my mother's side. The only person I've found -- ancestor or current match -- who is also on my father's side has been one of my nieces. Since she's my father's granddaughter, of course she's also on my father's side -- but only because she's my mother's granddaughter too.
In any case, I can't see why Western Gulf States Settlers isn't included among my maternal common communities, since that's clearly where it belongs.

Besides British-German-Catalan, ancestry includes smaller amounts of French, Irish, Swiss, Choctaw & another NA tribe, possibly Catawba. Avatar picture is: my father, his father, & his father's father; baby is my eldest brother.

They don't add anything relevant for me, and they seem to change with every click. Not a feature worth paying attention to at the moment. Genetic communities are where it's at, and I have loads luckily

For me ancestry dna needs to add a community for North Africans and Arabs

Lol yeah I saw, we should have more relevant communities. It should be easy to add a Libyan, Moroccan, Tunisian and Algerian community

They need to do better for Africans in general. 1 GC (Eastern Africa) for the whole of SSA is pitiful.
