    Aside from the possibility of pushing back tmrca dates, what (if any) implications do the findings of these papers (especially the first one) have for understanding the evolutionary basis for why certain Y haplogroups may or may not be more prevalent than others - what do the findings suggest about associations of Y haplos with fertility, infertility, other phenotypic effects of Y chromosomal variation?

    Given the fact this research is the very first time sections of the Y-DNA have finally been able to be mapped, it is still too early to know what we will discover from these findings. There appears to be some conservation mechanism at play as:
    the copy number ratio between the DYZ1 and DYZ2 monomer repeat units remains consistently close to 1:1.
    Who knows what we may find in these previously unexplored areas.
