    Countries of Ancestry by chromosome

Download your countries of Ancestry matches.
With a spreadsheet, sort by chromosome.
Copy the results of one chromosome in a text file .txt or other.
Open it with google chrome and then, note the number of occurrence for every country by Ctrl+F

I maked a map for a better view.
I did not put the chromosomes which have no enough matches, or if the results are not enough "differentiated".

Are you using your report from one of the testing companies or are you using results from GedMatch or some other tool?

Takes a long time for me to do a map..

    mine are

    Chr-2 = Italy
    Chr -3 = Netherlands
    Chr-5 = Wales , Ireland
    Chr -6 = Poland , Italy
    Chr -7 = Italy
    Chr-11 = Germany
    Chr- 16 = Corfu
    Chr-17 = Italy
    Chr-21 = Swiss
    Chr-22 = Austria
    Chr -X = Austria

As stated, I will map it later

BTW - do certain CHR numbers indicate anything in regards to geography as it age timespan of chromosome, example, does Chr#22 indicate one oldest geographical position .........I was told this once before , but I am sceptical

isn't it better to do your 4 parents noted in a chromosme under a nation, instead of "strangers"?

you must have your 4 parents in another nation

I don't understand what you are saying. If you mean my 4 grandparents...then 23andme isn't referring to my grandparents...but the 4 grandparents of the tester that I match. I'm simply repeating what 23andme is reporting in the countries of ancestry tool, which I believe what the OP was referring to.

For example: On chromosomes 1, 2, and 7, I match 3 individuals that have all 4 grandparents from Austria.

what I am saying is ........isn't it better to use the " your relative's "
    Mom's Mum
    Mom's Dad
    Dad's Mum
    Dad's Dad

    segment length 8.8cm

so If your are English and the above states all Sweden after Mom's Mom , Mom's Dad etc etc ............this must tell your ancestral path. The other system could only tell you a recent marriage

My 4 grandparents are not living and didn't have dna tests performed. They were all born in the US and their ancestry is from various countries, so I'm not sure how I could do what you are saying.

I do not have enough matches with 4 same country ... as I count all occurrences.
Certainly, it is less reliable, but statistically, it should be pretty close to reality for countries of many occurrences.

If I compare with the results of "ancestry composition" in chromosome view, there are some similarities:
For example, in chromosome 5, "23 and me" see one of my two portions "Italian" on chromosome 5, and Italy is the country where I have the most matches on chromosome 5.
On chromosome 6, ancestry composition see my unique segment "Eastern European" and yes, I matches with many Polish with chromosome 6.

My other chromosomes are essentially British & Irish and French & German in "ancestry composition", which seems pretty consistent with my other matches.

Unfortunately, it seems that there is not much French in "23 and me", or then I little cousin with my fellow citizen..
