    Question Does "big y ", tests all the knowns SNP downstream of L21?

    My question is maybe stupid, but I don't manage to find a clear answer on the Internet

    Does "big y ", test all the knowns downstream SNP of L21?
    As:
    Df41, Df21, L1335, L513, S1026, Z251, FGC11134, Z253, DF49, FGC5496, Z255 ect..

    DF41 is tested, though it's reported as: CTS6581 (alias)

    As far as I know most of the others are also covered. See Alex Williamson's tree which is generated using BigY results:

    I tried looking for it as the GRCh37 Y position 7306721 listed at ISOGG's Y-DNA SNP Index in the Big Y "Novel Variants" results of a guy who has tested FGC5496+, but got "No matching records". It is also just not in his list of novel variants, and I do not see another name for it.

    Big Y does not test for FGC5496. However, it does test for FGC7448 (position 8501059 is FGC7448), which is believed to be phylogenetically equivalent.

    If I may add a clarification, the tree you linked to was built from a combination of BigY and FGC so can't be taken as a guide to what the former alone tests. There are several SNPs under M222 which are only covered by FGC not BigY. I'm assuming the question only related to the sub-branch SNPs one level below L21 though, in which case the M222 issue can be ignored in this instance.

    Yes, indeed, I wanted to know for the first level ..
    I have not found my subgroup under DF13, maybe I don't have it, but I have not tested all markers ...
    Big y is too expensive for me, but I try to see what it could be the solution without having tested one marker by one markers!
    But it's intersseting to know that "big y" does not test everything, despite its price!
