My regions within them changed. In Aug 2022, they said my British/Irish regions were Greater London & County Cork, Ireland.

Now they say the regions within are Scottish Lowlands and Southern Uplands along with Northern Ireland and Central Scottish Lowlands.

Percentages didn't change however. Glad I keep screenshots of this stuff. Interesting to compare as they evolve over time.

I think a lot of these GC's should be taken with a pinch of salt (or should at least be taken in aggregate), as they appear to be more or less based upon the spatial distribution of the people that you match and for myself, the spatial distribution of my matches does differ from company to company.

For example, the majority of my matches on MyHeritage are from my Maternal Grandmothers side, whilst the majority of my matches on AncestryDNA are from my paternal grandfathers side.

So, this can possibly give you different GC's?

I doubt that's it, there are much fewer Portuguese people testing than Brits and Irish yet 23andme seem to get our regional ancestry just right.

Well I have never got a connection with NE England on any other site.

My UK/Ireland regions are still underwhelming, but I guess I shouldn't expect too much when all of that ancestry is from colonial America, and out of my estimated 20-25% British Isles (mainly English) ancestry they only assigned me 3.9%. It's good to see England is a "highly likely match", even if it's a very generic one. I'd rather they just did away with regions highlighted under my separate "country matches" section for the UK, since those surely just correspond to major population centers and have little connection with my genealogy.

My 2nd great-grandmother was 1/2 English (Cornwall), and 1/2 Northern Irish. I am 6% British and Irish on paper.

Before this update, I never had any locations at all for my B&I, so I was very pleased to see my accurate (even if rather broad) update.

Let's hope these new genetic groups continue into French & German, Eastern European, and beyond.

Paternal ancestry is a mix of Western/Eastern Hungarian.
Maternal ancestry is a mix of Western/Southern German, with minor English/Irish and Prussian.

I'd expect a MacLennan to be a highlander My results show Cork (nope) and most of the Irish west coast (accurate). London? Yes, me too, my guess is that, as a world city, everyone would have a match there.
