    R30b mitochondrial Haplogroup.

    R30b is a branch of R30. It is defined by 24 coding and control region mutations according to Chaubey et. al. 2008. The same paper reports samples with this haplogroup in Punjab.
    My 23andme analysis shows this as mtDNA ancestory. Would love to know other members with similar results. Please post any insight into the prevalence of this haplogroup and defining mutations info.

Thus it seems that Eliza Kewark was likely to have Indian maternal ancestry, even if her paternal lineage was Armenian."

    I read she lived in Surat, Gujrat. So far I have read R30b reported in Punjab, Nepal, Afghanistan and Gujrat. Vedda people of SriLanka also have this haplogroup.

    Some other samples have been listed to compare autosomal admixture estimates, they do not necessarily represent actual ancestry. Earliest R30b appears in Shahr-i-Sokhta-BA1 cluster. Earliest R30a appears in SPGT samples from Swat Valley, Pakistan. R7 appears in Shahr-i-Sokhta-BA2 cluster. H1a and L1a are the Y chromosomal Haplogroup present in these samples. As always please point out any mistakes that may have occurred.

    Table S1 lists 2 of the Persians from Bam, Kerman have mt Haplogroup R30a.

    Earliest R30 as reported earlier seems to be from Siestan, Iran in Shahr-i-Sokhta-BA1 cluster. Earliest R30a in Iron Age, Swat Valley. As stated by Chubey and colleagues in "Phylogeography of mtDNA haplogroup R7 in the Indian peninsula,"
    "Coalescent estimates suggest an ancient branching pattern in hgs R30 and R31, dating back almost to the earliest diversification of the superhaplogroup R itself. This most probably occurred soon after the out of Africa dispersals into the Indian subcontinent."

    Abstract

    The mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) control region (nucleotide position 16024-576) sequences were generated through Sanger sequencing method for 317 self-identified Kashmiris from all districts of Azad Jammu & Kashmir Pakistan. The population sample set showed a total of 251 haplotypes, with a relatively high haplotype diversity (0.9977) and a low random match probability (0.54%). The containing matrilineal lineages belonging to three different phylogeographic origins of Western Eurasian (48.9%), South Asian (47.0%) and East Asian (4.1%). The present study was compared to previous data from Pakistan and other worldwide populations (Central Asia, Western Asia, and East & Southeast Asia). The dataset is made available through EMPOP under accession number EMP00679 and will serve as an mtDNA reference database in forensic casework in Pakistan.
