Of all the countries, this is possibly the most beautiful. All that is beautiful and can be rarely seen in
other countries can be seen everywhere here... Here live the people who wear the cleanest clothes and prepare the
most flavorful dishes... Of all of God’s servants, the local people are the most compassionate and merciful...

Ibn Battuta about Asia Minor 1333CE

One of my favourite Turkish tracks, for many reasons. Ignore the awful cheesy collage video (also ignore the cheesiness of the lyrics, and singer's questionable political stance) and indulge in :
-the complete disregard of vowel harmony typical of the Eastern Black Sea accent, a very unTurkic characteristic which makes it sound exotic (gözlerUne! )
-which complements the overal "byzantine" atmosphere of the instrumental harmonies and vocal melisma
    -the hypnotic odd time signature

Just for info, that video is not the official video of that song, it has no official video, that video was made by a YouTuber who makes such amateur collage videos to Turkish songs, so nothing to do with the singer himself.

I am aware of that, I just worry it might detract from how good the song is.

Coming back to Eastern Black Sea (Eastern Pontian) Turkish music, here is my favorite song in it by Volkan Konak from Trabzon:

Here is the Balkan Turkish song Leylam sung by the North Macedonian Turkish singer Kevser Selimova:

Here is my favorite song in Gagauz, which is some kind of Balkan Turkish dialect, sung by the Gagauz singer Natali Deniz:

I'm a fan of Orhan Gencebay's style. He's of Crimean Tatar descent apparently. This has some particularly bluesy-sounding elements to my ears:

    Ελευθερία ή θάνατος.

I like Turkish wartime patriotic songs. Favourite is "Plevne marşı" about Gazi Osman Pasha's heroic defence of Pleven that prevented the fall of Istanbul in the Russo-Turkish war (1877-1878).
