    CTS3386

    Wow, I am just jumping off the deep end here. IF I test positive for CTS3386, what if any are the subclades that I could test for? At some point, I wonder what benefit it is for me to keep testing. I am doing it for genealogical purposes, but... brick walls are really hard to break through. I test a Yseq and did the L21 Super Clade. Round 1 was all negative, Round 2 shows DF13+. All the others are negative with the exception of CTS3386 and it is still processing. Any ideas?

    Did round 2 include CTS10334 beneath CTS3386? If you are negative for CTS3386 you may just want to save your money for an NGS test like BigY since the YSEQ test will have covered all of the usual suspects and you may be something less common.

    Actually, CTS3386 would be in last level of testing. If it is negative that means I fall out of the usual SNPs under DF13. If that is the case then the BigY would have to be the next move, if I can see where it is beneficial to my task.

    It looks like The Big Tree has two main subclades of CTS3386 (http://www.ytree.net/DisplayTree.php...=13&star=false), but CTS3386 is scarce and not represented by many samples yet. It will be interesting to see what you end up being in the long run. BigY can be useful for recent genealogical purposes if another somewhat closely related person also takes it and SNP testing in general can help you weed out irrelevant STR matches. Your NGS SNP results would be of interest anthropologically though regardless.

    Well, actually I heard from YSeq. The CTS3386 failed twice. They will run it again, but expect it t be a Null Allele. I don't know if that means it could be positive or not. I keep thinking about the BigY but wonder if there is a database to compare what the SNPs once they are known. I run into way too many people who are happy believing the unsupported facts on Ancestry. As for STR matches, the best I had was GD of 2 at 67. That testing seems to have been a failure.

    Well, YSeq finished testing the CTS3386 and has posted it as negative. So as far as testing with them, DF13 is as far as they can go. I am very puzzled by that and have no real idea of what that means.
