    Z18>S11601 Thread

I thought I would create a new thread to continue the discussion of my S11601 uncle and fellow S11601 men in a new thread separate from the general Z18 thread as more BigY results have come in. I have been able to get in touch with almost all BigY S11601+ men so far. A new close match with my uncle has turned two of his previously private SNPs into potentially a new twig. The new match is distant enough to not be an STR match. Below is the current S11601 haplotree leading to my uncle, who is 323104 Richards in the relevant projects. Some other twigs may be able to added for others, this is just a starting point. 13819020 A>G is a novel variant that was recently named FGC35830, however I am reluctant to ascribe much phylogenetic reliability to it due to it being in an STR. For now though, my uncle and three others have been positive for it. My uncle and the new S11601 man share the as yet unnamed SNPs 17894572 G>A and 21810990 T>G in common. I haven't been able to find him in the U106 or Z18 projects so I will see if I can recruit him. I have also been trying to gather information on the geographic distribution of S11601 and downstream clades for mapping purposes.

I look forward to more S11601 BigY results coming in. I'll update this thread with further diagrams and maps as possible.

Look at your INDEL's as one of them could be useful. If you have a FGC report that is a great way to locate the 0-2 new INDELs / Big-Y that are worth researching. There is a decent LD relationship between the appearance of an INDEL and a corresponding SNP.

I heard back from my uncle's newest BigY match and he has origins going back to Wiltshire. He is in the U106 project now as well. Looks like another branch has been identified under S19726 so I'll add that to the diagram when I get a chance. I believe there is some question about whether S19726 really is below S11601 and not equivalent, so that is something to keep an eye on. There is one Z18 guy my uncle matches on 33/37 STRs who is also from Devon that I really wish would do further testing. It isn't certain that he is S11601 but he very well could be.

Here is a MDKA map I've created for all individuals who have been able to trace their origins back to Europe. I hope this number grows as the M343 Panel and Z18 panels start sorting a few more people into S11601. NGS results are really necessary though in order to learn much more. The lone continental sample appears to be from the timeframe when Gdansk was Prussian Danzig, which makes more sense than being of Polish origin.

FGC35830 (located within an STR) is not seeming to be reliable, it is leading to contradictory results when you map S11601 individuals on a haplotree. If you desregard FGC35830, the S11601 haplotree now looks like this:

It's been awhile since I've updated this thread, since August there have been a number of new S11601+ samples with documented European origins and new NGS results as well. Two individuals were able to push their genealogies further back, relocating their MDKA locations. I am looking forward to the BAM file being analyzed for the most recent BigY as it will likely be another new branch of S11601.
Here is the most up to date map and haplotree I've made:

It Zp141 on this chart somewhere? That's the next SNP test they suggest for me

ZP141 is further downstream on another branch downstream of Z18 than S11601. Are you in the Z18 and subgroups project?

Yes, did't look at a big chart for the other branches oops!

This may be a good time for a S11601 map update post, note the new Swedish addition.

I've also be working on creating a more aesthetically pleasing map of British Isles S11601 people, here is an early draft version.

Here is the latest S11601 haplotree, it has been growing thanks to BigY results. The Z18 SNP Pack has also helped break up the cluster of SNPs at the S11601 level.
