The only way to get a reliable result is with a test that includes a sufficient amount of Y-DNA testing such as FTDNA YDNA-37, Yseq, 23andme, Geno 2.0, BritainsDNA, or FullGenomes. 23andme is extremely limited and BritainsDNA and Geno 2.0 are $200 and FullGenomes is through the roof. Yseq is the cheapest but only FTDNA has a large database that has matching of other people with the same STR markers. If there is an STR match and they have done extensive SNP testing then you would only need to test the terminal SNP if you want it to show at FTDNA. The FTDNA Y-DNA37 test is $169 and that is comparatively cheap for what you get.
