Are you a Gypsy? Would you like to know?

I found a couple of interesting SNPs while doing autosomal comparison using several Romanichal gedmatch IDs; I would like to do comparison test on a bigger group of people.

It seems to work on Romanichal people (Romany group in the UK); it may work on Slavic Romani population as well.

Just send me your gedmatch ID (in private message); I perform autosomal comparisons and let you know about the result.

If I meet your subject criteria, I would be interested in being included in your analysis. I just PM'ed my kit # to you. My curiosity is partly peaked as my father and I have light eyes, but I show one pigmentation mixed-allele that is uncommon in Europeans in an otherwise mostly West or NW Euro genotype (assumed mostly British descent).

You may want to contact our member "evon" regarding acquiring more Romany GEDmatch kits for your investigation. He's spent a good deal of time researching Romany data with respect to his own genealogy.

Best of luck with your work!

I used to think I had Romani ancestry but I don't think so anymore.

But I'll give you my kit # and my grandfather's kit # as well just to be sure.

Sure, I know evon and we had a long interesting discussion about this subject.
I did one research... I did autosomal comparisons using 10 known Romanichal kits... compared them with others (including Askenazy) and came up with a couple of interesting SNPs which I would like to use for doing autosomal comparisons.
Thanks to everybody who would like to participate in this research.

Snow6565 is quick with his analysis and has determined that me and my father's kits do not show this AC. This narrows down my search for the exotic "spice" AC that may have contributed to a rare-in-Europeans pigmentation allele that I posted about on another thread today.

Many thanks for the results, and best wishes with your project!

I run the tests and sent the results as private messages to everybody who provided me with the gedmatch kits#.

As a mostly western Euro, my HarappaWorld results seem to support Tamilgangster's comment and Snow6565's study: I score 0% SE-Asian and 0.42% SW-Asian. Instead, I score a little more North-Asian type AC with 0.60% Siberian and 0.23% Beringian as well as 0.87% American.

I am doing autosomal comparison study.
I agree that high S_Indian harappa is a sign of Romani ancestry... I would even lower it.
I would consider quadruplets (not even triplets!) autosomal comparison to be the best test to prove Romani ancestry.
