Between Geno 2.0 and Geno 2.0 NG I know that I am negative for most of the main branches off of R-L20. I wonder if my R-L20 out of Latvia might be too novel even for this SNP pack and I have a feeling I need to eventually just go for BigY instead one day when I can.

After more careful checking it seems as if I'm negative for these three major sub-branches on the FTDNA/Geno Y-chart:
    Geno 2.0 NG (A but reverse strand so really T) - BY2171 23615856-T-A
    Geno 2.0 (T) - YSC0000193 17005069-T-A
    Geno 2.0 (G) - Z291/S256 23574525-G-T

and not tested on their other two major sub-branches:
    BY3598 19134930-C-T
    Z1910 16440395-A-C

and not tested on the new single-SNP 'branches':
    BY3562 07592063-C-A
    BY3565 07657566-A-C
    BY3568 08069169-C-G

One weird thing is that I've never even been able to find where on the website the BigY is even offered for sale.

It normally appears on your myFTDNA account screen. You do have to have Y STRs tested. I don't know what the minimum is but if you need help you can place a contact request on the FTDNA web page.

What web site are you looking at? FTDNA keeps their own haplotree separate from the National Genographic Project's.

Well the FTDNA one says that they created it in partnership with the Genographic Project right at that top of the Y-haplgroup haplotree page.

Ah man that really makes BigY expensive then. I wonder why they require it? For individual Y-SNP tests or Y-SNP Packs Geno 2.0 transfers don't have to get any STR first unlike other customers so I wonder why they still make STR required for BigY???
