    Haplogroup C2e1b2 in a European?

Hello. I am of European descent and have haplogroup C2e1b2. This haplogroup so far has only been found in China and Korea. I have no Asian autosomal DNA so I am confused. Does anyone offer any insights?

Alphanumeric names like C2e1b2 are obsolete, because they have meanings that change across time and across sources/vendors/experts. According to last year's ISOGG haplotree, C2e1b2 is marked by CTS3385. Is that your clade? YFull's haplotree lists only one such entry, a research sample from Beijing.

Which testing company did you use?

Yes, that's my clade. I did AncestryDNA v2 and I uploaded my raw data to Wegene and they told me that I am Haplogroup C2e1b2. I looked them up and found that the were the same. Yes, I saw the Beijing sample as well on FTDNA, I found a Korean man with the same clade too. Do you have an ideas?

How cool! You might be the direct descendant of a Hun who came west into Europe from East Asia with their ruler Attila in the early Middle Ages. Do you have descent from folks who lived in western Germany? There is an area there called the Hunsrück. Some feel the origin of the name derives from the Huns. There may have been a remnant of Hunnish people who settled in that region possibly. I read this many years ago but don't remember the source. It might be worth checking into.

Interesting. Thank you Grossvater. Would a Hun have the Chinese and Korean subclade though? What's interesting is my direct paternal line goes back to Western Germany so there might be something there...

I am negative for the P39 Native SNP, and my line goes directly back to Germany there.

Astonishing result! Definitely needs some further testing. Have you considered FTDNA?

    According to Eupedia:

Haplogroup C is a very rare lineage in Europe. The few Europeans who belong C either belong to the European C-V20, the Middle Eastern C-M358, or the Mongolian C3-M217. Haplogroup C3 has also been identified in one Hunnic skeleton from the Iron Age in present-day Mongolia. Its presence in Europe can therefore be linked to the Hunnic and Mongolian invasions, like haplogroup Q1a.
