Is Nordic YDNA Q related to Nordic mtDNA G2?

I have started to wonder if the presence of these two Eurasian lineages in Norway are related to each other in some way, and that they represent a common migration into the Nordic region? I thought it would be interesting to investigate this further, maybe there is enough interest to start a crown funded project for FTDNA testing of several of my Norwegian G2a cousins from 23andme and compare them to my G2a cousins at FTDNA..? The same can be done with YDNA Q matches from 23andme...

I've just posted on Q aDNA from Norway on the Ancient DNA in the News forum.

PgmNr 1147: Y-chromosomal composition of mediaeval and contemporary populations in Norway and adjacent Scandinavian countries: Y-STR haplotypes and the rare Y-haplogroup Q.

Did you use a mobile phone to post this? As the page is very limited...Do you know when this will be released?

There was aDNA Q found in the Khvalynsk samples found in Russia. Although I doubt the Scandinavian Q as a direct descendant from that individual, I wonder if they tagged along with the Battle Axe/Corded Ware people during that period. Large numbers of hg Q were found in modern Icelandic populations as well, where as hg N was not to be found. Looking forward to these aDNA results! Don't mean to hijack the thread. :/

It is actually curious that YDNA N has not to my knowledge been found on Iceland, as we know from history and mtDNA samples that Norse peoples did mix with Saami peoples who today have YDNA N in their genepool. I guess it could be due to selective breeding and a small genepool on Iceland though..?

According a Russian paper from 2015, the age of Q-L804 in Norway and Sweden is c. 8000 years (Константа скорости SNP мутаций Y-хромосомы по данным полного секвенирования). Unexpectedly, in the same paper, the Siberian Q-L330 was given a slightly younger age. However, yfull gives L804 a younger age, and its TMRCA for Q-L330 is the same c. 8000 years.

My presumption is that Q-L804 in Scandinavia is from the Mesolithic period and arrived through the northern part of Fennoscandia.

Apologies for going off topic, but Kristina, do you know of any Russian aDNA papers? Admittedly, I'm particularly interested in I1 but also much else. I speak Russian so would appreciate any links
