    seeq.io looking for beta testers

    Joe Pickrell tweets: https://twitter.com/joe_pickrell/sta...69194902536193

Want a look at your genome sequence? We're looking for beta testers of our genome app http://seeq.io/
On the website, it says $50, then provide a saliva sample and drop it off in any USPS mailbox. So US only.

    But on Redditt https://www.reddit.com/r/science/com...rlich_and_joe/

    Hello Reddit! We are:

Yaniv Erlich: Professor of computer science at Columbia University and the New York Genome Center

Joe Pickrell: Professor of biology at Columbia University and the New York Genome Center

We develop new, fun ways to analyze genetic data, which we use to understand aspects of genetic privacy, infer ancient history, improve medicine, and much more.

More importantly, we want these tools to be available to everyone, including you. If you have your personal genome data, you can sign up at DNA.Land to contribute to research and learn more about your DNA. If you don't have your data, you can sign up to get sequenced by our project Seeq.

I signed up for this and recently received some results. The first to come in was an anlysis of my spit microbiome. Today I received an ancestry report. My known ancestry is Germain and English, so the southeast Mediterranean component must fall in the ancient category.

Actually, my main motivation was to see if raw data results would be compatible with GEDmatch, and those are not yet available.

I also got my Ancestry results from Seeq today. They were 54% Northwestern European, 24% Northeastern European, and 22% Southwestern European.

On the app click the three white dots and click request raw data. That sends an email to your account with a link to the download.

So this is DNA.Land "grown-up" into a commercial test that can compete with 23andMe if I understand the features offered? Ancestry, Microbiomes, relative sharing - all for $50. Sounds like a bargain.

Thanks -- I don't see that option, but I sent a message to support.

It's what 23andme would be charging if they weren't overpriced.

DNA.Land does relative matching in their database. Seeq.io lets you send an invitation to a specific person to view your results. I haven't actually tried that.
