My mother's ftdna common maternal matches

This is quite odd. My mtdna is T2b and below is the list of people who I share a common maternal ancestor with. You will see that there is a common region associated with my matches:

    Azeri
    jewish
    azeri
    azeri
    saudi arabian
    armenian
    iranian
    azeri/iranian/iraqi

There are a lot of azeris in my matches. My mother did mention that we have either Turkish or Armenian in our family...thoughts?

mtDNA is weird that way, your matches do all appear to derive from a common West Asian/near Eastern source but some exact matches may be hundreds or thousands of years old. Your family's oral history could also be correct in this case though.

    Other ancestral Y lines:

    E1b-M81 Ukraine (Ashkenazi)
    E1b-V13 England
    I1-M253 Ireland
    I2-M423 Ukraine
    R1a-L176.1 Scotland
    R1b-L584 Syria/Turkey (Sephardi)
    R1b-L20 Ireland
    R1b-L21 (1)England; (2)Wales?>Connecticut
    R1b-L48 England
    R1b-P312 Scotland
    R1b-FGC32576 Ireland

    Other ancestral mtDNA lines:

    H1b2a Ukraine (Ashkenazi)
    H6a1a3 Ukraine
    K1a9 Belarus (Ashkenazi)
    K1c2 Ireland
    V7a Ukraine

I don't mind if its hundreds or thousands of years old... I am just trying to get an understanding of where my mother's line came from.. in this case it seems west asian/caucasus based...

Yes, there certainly does seem to be a hint at that. Perhaps via Armenian Christians in Egypt?
