Just wondering about how comparable are the Hausa, Malian and Fulani kingdoms in West Africa to the Swahili, Axum and Nubian city states in East Africa. Who were wealthier on overall? did they ever interact? was there any trade?. I know the West African kingdoms interacated with the Berbers of North Africa and the East African city states interacted with the Middle East, South Asia and East Asia but who were more influenced culturally and financially also?
