FTDNA: 36 matches trough my mother's side (all Dutch ancestry and English) and only 1 trough my father who'm I certain of because I have him in 23andme's DNA relatives too (from Campagnia).
How strange that even someone from Algeria get's more Algerian matches while I get only 1 Italian match trough FTDNA.

I have my mum tested with 23andme so I can do the split mode (it can not fully split the DNA relatives though, you'll need family inheritence for that to be sure)
With 23andme's DNA relatives I have more than a few Southern Italians. My first match is from Napoli and my third as well. Others matches related trough my father are mainly from all over Italy and Sicily but mostly from Southern Italy and I have one distant match from Crete and one from Kazachstan, but also two Jews far down the line and some Danish. I think it's a shame that most doesn't even accept my invitations, or doesn't really want to explore their family history..

Just wondering anyone's opinion on this. A few days ago I received a match at FTDNA who is predicted 2-4 cousin. I got pretty excited since no one matches me that close there except a known cousin of mine, who is a second cousin once removed. Well when I looked at the chromosome browser the largest segment is 16.96 cm. All the other segments are only between 1.85 cm up to 3.76 cm. They all seem very low I would think to be considered so close. All together there are 14 shared segments on eleven chromosomes. Some are on the same chromosome such as two of them show up on chromosome 8 and three of them are on chromosome 12 where we share the largest segment. Is it more likely this is a much more distant relation, and they have just inflated the closeness due to the number of matching segments? I know with my Jewish and Colonial matches they tend to be predicted in the 3-5th cousin range. This match has no information listed other than a name. I'm fairly certain they would not be through my Jewish matches. Small chance maybe through the Colonial ones.

^ I don't think they predict cousin relationships based on total cM shared but rather the largest segments. That's why the minimum cutoff for being included in the list seems to be having at least one 7cM segment.

Has anyone gotten bogus results or had their results mixed up with another kit's? I got the e-mail that it was done and logged in to check and I have 40 matches with Americans/Europeans. Two 3rd cousins and seven 4th cousins. I sent them an e-mail to see what happened.

The Population Finder is correct though.

People get around and the database is overrepresented with European and American peoples as one would expect...not allot of South Asians in it..So i doubt your results is "bogus"..next step is uploading it to gedmatch, there you will find more South Asians..

You are correct Dr. McNinja. These are my 8 matches sorted by relationship, note Family Finder posts relationship by longest block not by total shared cM:

    Shared cM/ Longest Block
    28.1/ 14.65
    22.36/ 10.13
    22.6/ 9.84
    32.98/ 9.25
    23.79/ 9.09
    20.35/ 8.16
    21.9/ 8.16
    20.35/ 8.16

but keep in mind when meeting Family Finder's threshold, then they count every single matching segment even if it is 1 cM in calculating the total shared cM.
