Pretty coarse results for me (100% East European) especially when compared to 23andme or AncestryDNA, though the ancient origins stuff is interesting.

We got our first Egyptian match on FTDNA, I am guessing it is either a false match or via our Romani side (shared west Asian ancestry I guess)... I dont think we had any Egyptian matches before, although there might be some on 23andme...

Anyone else seen Ashkenazim get such results on FTDNA?

Egypt used to have quite a large Romani community so I wouldn't be surprised if it was through your Romani ancestry.

Could be indicative of Sephardic/Mizrahi ancestry, although FTDNA has a Sephardic category.
Ethnogene (most accurate so far IMO): Frisian 2.8%, Scottish 19.2%, Welsh 2.4%, English 29.0%, Irish 31.7%, Cornish 1.9%, Irish Traveller 4.0%, French 2.6%, Dutch 1.0%, German 1.8%, Western Indian 1.1%, Central/Southern Ashkenazi 1.0%, Norwegian 1.5%

Interests: Population genetics (especially pertaining to Romani and Jewish populations and the intersections between them), making music, making art, writing, Sheffield United FC.

Pretty sure their Sephardic reference is Greek and Turkish.

I took another look at my mum's family finder results and her European part was 49% - none of that came up as British Isles! Her mum's side of the family are all Dorset, Somerset, Devon, Cornwall for hundreds of years. Even 23andme has her as at least 16.8% British and Irish. Ancestry 51% England, Wales and Northwestern European. Myheritage - 16% English. Seems odd to get 0% British Isles. That being said they only have me at 12% British Isles.

    Scandinavia - 24%
West and Central Europe - 15%
    Southeast Europe - 10%

I wonder if/when they are going to be updating again
Ethnogene: 51.4% NW European, 21.6% W European, 10.1% Southeastern African, 9.5% Southeast Asian, 4.4% South Asian, 2% Scandinavian, 1% East African
Papertrail: 75% NW European, 25% Mauritian Creole

On a general level it seems correct and matches my known heritage (46.68% Polish, 25% Danish, 22.46% Fenno-Swedish, 3.32% Ashkenazi and 2.46% Swedish). However, they did assign a sizeable part of my Scandinavian ancestry to the British Isles and also didn't manage to detect the Ashkenazi component.

In terms of my matches, I currently have around 3300 of which 2000+ (perhaps more) are people with Finnish and Swedish names. Most of the people with Swedish names are definitely Swedish-speaking Finns, but there are also some who don't appear to have any ancestors from Finland. The second-largest group of matches are people with Ashkenazi background (ca. 500) and the rest are a mix which includes Ukrainians, Poles, Norwegians, Russians and Danes as well as a number of people whose heritage isn't immediately clear.

Alas they do nothing to improve it.

As for Ashkenazi, Family Finder results gave me a trace <1%, but says it could be background noise. Since my maternal grandfather was born in Austria, I'm surprised it isn't higher. FF > British Isles 40%, Scandinavia 29%, Iberia 8%, and S.E. Europe (they include Italy) 7%.

Ancient Origins: Metal Age invaders 12%, Farmers 43%, and Hunter-Gatherers 46%.
