Really great to be able to compare someone to their sibling, of a mixed background like this. It really shows how different it can be for people of the same ethnic background. It looks like it also demonstrates how weak the test is at correctly identifying the correct English regions: he gets all that SE England while you get SC England.

Paper trail ancestry to the best of my knowledge:
English (possibly containing some Welsh ancestry) 31.25%, Scottish 17.96%, Scotch-Irish 12.5%, Eastern German 12.5%, Eastern European (Likely Polish possibly including Romanian) 12.5%, French 7.81%, Native American (Saulteaux and Assiniboine) 2.34%, and Colonial American, 3.125%, which cannot be traced with certainty. With certainty, there is Dutch (at least 1.36%) and some English.

Updated LivingDNA results are pretty different

This was an actual LivingDNA test on their older chip. My original results on left and new results on the right:

I 'm getting the impression with the updates, from the various companies , that there's a curate's egg of much improved to much worse results . I wonder what could be responsible for that , and what changes could result in a uniform improvement when it comes to updates .

If I compare my results at a broader regional level, there is not much change after the update.

For me and my father, I think LivingDNA has become the best performing ethnicity test!
But this may not be the case for everyone ...

My results didn't changed much in the Eurasian/European percentage, it goes around 87-88%. What really looked weird in the new update is that they inverted the Amerindian and SSA percentages. I paid for the update last week, so when I liberated the results they were still displaying the non-updated ones, now they give me the updated results.

    Old results:

    European (85.6%)

    Europe (South) 64.3%

    West Iberia 25.1%
    Tuscany 19.7%
    South Italy 19.5%

    Europe (North and West) 14.3%

    South Germanic 14.3%

    Great Britain and Ireland 7%

    Scotland and Ireland 7%

    Africa 12%

    Yorubaland 6.5%
    East Africa 3.9%
    North Africa 1.6%

    Native Americas 2.4%

    Mesoamerican 2.4%

    Total = 87.2% Eurasian/North African, 10.4% SSA, 2.4% Amerindian.

    Updated results:

    Europe 79.5%

    Europe (South) 58.2%

    West Iberia 22.7%
    Tuscany 17.9%
    South Italy 17.6%

    Europe (North and West) 14.3%

    South Germanic 14.3%

    Great Britain and Ireland 7%

    Scotland and Ireland 7%

    Africa 12.2

    Northern Morocco 7.6%
    South and Central Africa 2.9%
    West Africa 1.6%

    Native Americas 8.3

    Mesoamerican 8.3%

    Total: 87.1% Eurasian/North African, 8.3% Amerindian, 4.5% SSA

Compared with the original results, it seems the increased North African in the update was taken mostly from my South European, since it diminished in 8%. I just don't know from where they are taking the 8.3% Amerindian since it's not easy to mistake Amerindian and SSA DNA and the Amerindian increased and the SSA decreased.

They did a great update in their African database but they only have ''Mesoamerican'' samples for South American natives, I suppose they are probably using some samples of mixed triracial people who identify as Amerindians in Mexico, Honduras, Nicaragua and Guatemala for their ''Mesoamerican'' cluster so it probably hides a bit of European and SSA DNA. But it's just a guess, I'm not sure.
