    ftdna ancient origins results, italian

    Hello,

I just had my family finder results and in the section "ancient origins" my results are:
18% hunter gatherer, 64% farmer, 17% metal age invaders, 0% non european.

I'm an italian from the Marche region, in central eastern Italy. We have over there an unusual percentage of asia minor component and y dna J2, 30% or more, it should be mainly J2a, without having any archaeological traces of iron age mediterranean invaders. (It was an italic area)

The geographical percentages (My origins) are 69% southern europe, 27% asia minor, 2% north africa, 2% eastern middle east.

The 27% asia minor component seems to reflect the percentages we have in that region (and of y hg j2). This asia minor component appears to fall into my 64% farmer percentage. Why? Does this mean that there was a late neolithic autosomal contribution in the central adriatic coast of italy, probably linked to y dna J2, which is not typical of the western european neolithic (EEF)?

What about the high hunter gatherer percentage, 3 or 4 times the average italian? Something to do with the northern balkans? Couldn't it be that this asia minor component passed through Serbia and Croatia, just in front of my region, where it gathered hunther gatherer dna?

    Thanks

Italian autosomal admixture is actually very complex and heterogeneous:

the best way to deeply understand yours is to ask Davidski to analyse your Basal-rich K7. It is much more accurate, in my opinion, than ftdna 'ancient origins'.

Click on oracle and oracle-4 and post your results, and yes, k13 should be fairly good for an Italian.
