    E in British isles,thoughts please

I am E-Z16664 according to Yfull which is down from E-L17 which in turn is down from E-V13. I know E-V13 has been linked to the Balkans but I don't think E-L17 has and I know nothing of E-Z16664's origins.

    Yfull shows.

With the ENG one being me. Hard to tell whether my Y line is British or from elsewhere in Europe.

    Hi Firemonkey,
Maybe you have already heard about the cluster of Haplogroup E, around the Chester area of UK, and also Abergele, Wales, its been hypothesised, it could be related to Roman legion from the Balkans. Think its been spoken about before here somewhere, but don't know where. Also there is a wiki page on it.

E-L17 has not been found in the Balkans yet, which minimizes probability for its Balkans origin.
Personally, I doubt that any British E-V13 has Balkans origin. People have lately started seriously considering that E-V13 "homeland" could be in some other part of Europe.

What have been the suggestions for an alternative European " homeland" to Balkans for E-V13?

Maybe it does, or maybe it does not.
Mentioned it Because your subclade is further downstream than the cluster tested to be V13 around Chester.

Firemonkey, it seems your line is Western Atlantic (Ibero-Biscay-Britannian) branch of E-V13.
According to Lacan 2011, oldest (5000 BC) E-V13 a DNA sample in Europe was finded in Avellaner cave, Catalonia.
Maybe, your paternal line descends from that Iberian population and not from Roman soldiers.

Unfortunately I could not read the Lacan pdf as my French isn't up to scratch. Does it mention E-Z16664 or just E-V13?

Actually a friend of mine from South Albania is E-17, so yes it found in the Balkans. He has paternal cousins found in North Albania, Montenegro, Peloponnese, and South Italy.
